At a time when the international campaign #hellomynameis was highlighting the importance of staff introductions in patient care, we worked with our colleagues in the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to develop Drawing the Carers in 2016.

At a time when the international campaign #hellomynameis was highlighting the importance of staff introductions in patient care, we worked with our colleagues in the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to develop Drawing the Carers in 2016. The initiative engaged 28 staff members of University Hospital Galway in having their portraits painted by artist Róisín Curé. Exhibited throughout the hospital as part of a Uniform Recognition Campaign, and later recreated as posters for sites throughout the hospital, the project aimed at helping patients and their families to more clearly distinguish between the many staff members caring for them, thus relieving anxieties and enabling them to put their questions to the right people.
