Saolta Arts is seeking to expand our board and are now recruiting for new Charity Trustees. This is an exciting opportunity to diversify our governing body ensuring that we have the skills to guide our organisation in the next phase of our development.

We are looking for people who wish to contribute to our arts and health work, promoting wellbeing and improving the hospital experience for patients, staff and visitors. Our multi-disciplinary programme of events and activities includes exhibitions, music, theatre, poetry and public art to improve the physical environment for everyone. Supported by professional artists, our participative arts workshops allow people of all ages to explore their creative potential. While our professional musicians bring high quality live music to the bedside of patients in our hospitals.

We are seeking to build and diversify our board expertise and experience.  Areas include building capacity within our organisation, policy, finance, fundraising, marketing, communications and legal expertise.

Role of Board Members

Directors of the board are both company directors and charity trustees.  They should understand the legal duties of the role, as outlined by the Charities Regulator. Directors are responsible for the financial sustainability of the organisation and for supporting its fundraising efforts, for example through joining the Fundraising Sub-committee, making introductions or championing our work to suitable contacts.

Board members are elected for a 3-year term, renewable up to a maximum of 6 years. Saolta Arts is a registered charity and these are voluntary, unpaid positions. The Board of Saolta Arts meets 7-8 times annually, inclusive of the Annual General Meeting. Board members are expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation and to attend Saolta Arts events where possible. We welcome applications from people with previous board or trustee experience.
